Halimah A. Muhammad
SISTER · SCHOOL TEACHER · DELTA SIGMA THETA · INSPIRATION
Halimah was more than just a sister; she was a beacon of light. Despite a 10-year age gap between her and her sister Ayanna, they grew closer with every passing year — sharing a bond that transcended time and distance.
As the youngest of four siblings — "the baby" — she carried a spirit of joy and resilience that touched everyone she met. A dedicated school teacher, a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a soul full of purpose.
Halimah was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer and passed away on November 2023 — Thanksgiving Day. She was 38 years old. Gone too soon, but having lived fully and loved fiercely.
"She fought with grace and lived with purpose. The goHAM Foundation exists to extend the same support she had to others in need." — Ayanna Muhammad, President & Founder, goHAM Foundation
Her Blessing — and the Gap She Revealed
During Halimah's journey with metastatic breast cancer, she had a blessing that many do not: "She had us."
She was surrounded by a family that could provide emotional strength and financial stability. But through her battle, the Muhammad family realized that too many people face this journey alone — forced to choose between life-saving treatments and basic needs like rent or food.
That realization became a calling. The goHAM Foundation was created to bridge that gap — to become the "family" and support system for those who don't have one. To honor Halimah's legacy by ensuring that every cancer patient in our community has someone standing with them.

Why goHAM?
goHAM Foundation was founded by Ayanna Muhammad out of a deep commitment to community care and a belief that financial hardship should never stand between a cancer patient and their healing.
What started as a grassroots idea — born from personal loss and a determination to turn grief into purpose — became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Volunteer-driven, community-powered, and built for the long haul.
The name says it all: we go Hard And Meaningful. Because that's what this work demands — and that's what Halimah deserves.
"I started goHAM because I saw firsthand how a diagnosis could destabilize an entire family. No one should have to choose between treatment and paying the rent. Halimah had us — and now, we're here for everyone else." — Ayanna Muhammad, President & Founder
Since founding the organization, Ayanna has built a dedicated board of directors and a passionate volunteer community committed to a simple mission: show up. Every time. For every patient.
